  Hello and welcome to COLBAR.    We are Barbara and Colin Keighley and we live in West Yorkshire in the North of  England     Our home is situated in the heart of Bronteland, near Haworth where the famous authors - the Bronte Sisters ('Wuthering Heights', 'Jane Eyre' etc)  -  lived.   We live in the country surrounded by the famous Yorkshire moors with lovely views across the valley leading to Lancashire.

We bought our first Golden Retriever in 1964.       She was lovely, and super intelligent, but not of show quality as she was part field trial breeding,  but she loved obedience and  lived to 13 years old.            In 1965 we bought our first   'show'    Golden from the Camrose Kennel and thus began our long association with the show scene.  

We are a small kennel and rarely keep more than six dogs at any one time.      We breed an occasional litter,  on average about one a year,  and like to think that we can pass on to others our longlasting,  well tested line.  Our  present  day line is mostly founded on a lovely puppy ' Rosa ' who we bought in 1981 and who was to become  Sh.Ch. Rachenco Barbarella of Colbar  - by Ch.Camrose Fabius Tarquin x Alexia of Tillwood Rachenco -  and she is behind many good lines both here and abroad.   Early in 2002 we introduced Amirene Lucinda With Colbar into our kennel and she has proved a worthy  addition.  All our dogs are eye tested and hip scored.
